It has been awhile since I just “played around” with taking some photographs. While standing outside watching a rainstorm passing, I realized I was missing a perfect opportunity. So, I quickly ran in the house and grabbed my camera. Glad I did — hope you enjoy these as much as I did enjoyed taking them.
Sometimes fortune smiles on you. This was a perfect balance of light and color, and I had decided to move the sun just off frame. I had taken several immediately preceeding this one with the sun in frame, and got some nice effects, but the color was wrong. As soon as I moved the sun out of the frame, the color came back, and it was the shot I didn’t know that I wanted!
We quite often get great colors with our sunsets, and I knew the conditions this night would not disappoint. After getting multiple shades of gold and orange, the reds finally started to show. The image is slightly off focused, which softens the image.
This lamp post is in my front yard, and after the colors of the sunset faded, I started playing with the low light levels and changing the exposure time with the on-board flash firing. The first one was by far the best of the bunch. Doesn’t it feel like halloween now?
Above taken with Nikon D60 with a Tamron 28-300mm lens, which requires manual focus control.
